P7 Trip to the Salmon Hatchery.

P7 Salmon Project 2018.

P7 braved the cold wind on Friday and headed to the Salmon Hatchery at Ballycastle Forest. There, they met up with Natural Living Asset's, Brendan Kerr, who explained to the children what their upcoming project would be about and who gave them lots of information about the life cycle of salmon. The children also took part in releasing a male salmon back into the river. In the next few weeks, the P7s will be receiving some salmon eggs, which they will need to monitor and look after, before releasing into the river nearer to Easter time. Watch this space!
